As President of Boreal Insurance Group, Ty McDonald plays a multifaceted role in the business. He is involved in insurance procurement, claims advocacy, coverage management, contractual review, acquisitions, and risk consulting. Most importantly, Ty enjoys building lasting relationships with clients, taking the time to understand their businesses and helping them find insurance solutions that support their long-term success.
Carol peterson
Office Manager
With more than 35 years of insurance industry experience, Carol Peterson brings a wealth of knowledge to the Boreal team. Having managed brokerages in both Calgary and Central Alberta, she has extensive experience across a wide variety of insurance products and risk management solutions. Carol has also been active with the Insurance Brokers Association of Alberta Central Local Council. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her grandchildren.
Brenda Gerrard
Account Manager
Brenda Gerrard is an Account Manager who works with both Personal and Commercial Lines clients, assisting with everything from personal insurance and farm policies to commercial and aviation coverage. With more than 20 years of industry experience, Brenda is passionate about delivering exceptional customer service and helping clients find insurance solutions that meet their unique needs. She earned her Canadian Accredited Insurance Broker (CAIB) designation in 2012. A lifelong resident of the Innisfail area, Brenda enjoys travelling, camping, and spending time with family and friends.

Account Manager
Tiffany McDonald is an Account Manager serving both Personal and Commercial Lines clients. She works with a wide range of policies, including personal, farm, commercial, and energy sector risks. With a background in the oil and gas and environmental services industries, Tiffany brings valuable firsthand knowledge to the insurance and risk management solutions she provides, helping clients navigate the unique challenges of their industries.
kristy Soellner
Account Manager
Kristy Soellner joined Boreal Insurance in 2021 as an Account Manager, working with personal, commercial, and farm insurance clients. She is passionate about getting to know her clients and creating insurance programs tailored to their individual needs. Kristy holds her Level 2 Insurance Broker's Licence as well as a Blue Seal Business Certificate. When she's away from the office, she enjoys hunting, golfing, and spending time with her family.

Melissa joined Boreal Insurance in 2022 as an Account Manager specializing in personal and agricultural insurance. Growing up in an agricultural and equestrian environment, she has firsthand knowledge of the farm, ranch, equine, and agricultural industries. Melissa enjoys building lasting relationships with her clients and developing insurance solutions that are tailored to their operations and lifestyle.
Corinne Schmitt
Customer Service Representative
As Boreal Insurance's Customer Service Representative, Corinne Schmitt is often the first friendly face clients see when they visit the office. Along with providing exceptional customer service, she manages many of the brokerage's day-to-day administrative and clerical functions, helping ensure the account management team can remain focused on delivering the knowledgeable service clients have come to expect.
Kathryn Brooks
Associate Account Manager
Kathryn Brooks joined Boreal Insurance in 2026 as an Associate Account Manager and is currently training to become an Account Manager. She enjoys learning the industry while supporting clients and the Boreal team, and especially appreciates the collaborative environment the brokerage has built. Kathryn's favourite part of her role is helping people and making a positive difference for clients whenever she can. Outside of the office, she enjoys reading, camping, fishing, and spending time with animals.

Kori Byers joined Boreal Insurance in 2026 as an Associate Account Manager and is currently training to become an Account Manager. She enjoys being part of the welcoming team at Boreal and values the supportive environment her colleagues have created.
